Relaxing has been the name of the game for me lately. I’m coming off of a two-week cold that really threw me for a loop and kind of messed up my entire life. I took it as a sign that I should breathe a little more, declutter my life, and maybe ACTUALLY try to relax.
Weird concept, right?
If any of you know me, you know that I hate relaxing and I don’t like sitting still or being unproductive. To me, there are so few hours in the day, why would I waste them doing nothing? I learned the hard way (and so did my body) that for the sake of my health, winding down and taking a breather is SO important.
Even though it’s pretty necessary, that doesn’t mean I’m any good at it. HA. So I decided to try some at home yoga for a change. I don’t normally prefer yoga, but in the spirit of relaxing & taking it easy, I figured I’d give it a try.
So as I was searching the web for some different poses and routines I could do, I came upon the Pranamat ECO.
The Pranamat ECO a therapeutic manual massage mat that helps relieve muscle aches and pains and helps you RELAX. It’s a holistic approach to health that recharges and revitalizes you! What makes this mat so unique are the lotus flower shaped massagers that are attached to the top of the mat. Each flower has several small spikes coming out of it (don’t worry, they aren’t too sharp) that individually massage each of the body’s meridian points.
The Pranamat ECO can be used to lessen anxiety, for meditation, to refocus the mind, and obviously in yoga too.
I’m totally discovering my love for yoga with the Pranamat ECO!
I’m not kidding, it seriously changes the yoga game.
Here’s how I use the Pranamat ECO:
Before I go to bed at night, I pull the mat out and start by standing on it. This is so good for focus because you have to put all of your energy into standing with your feet completely flat on the mat otherwise, it can get uncomfortable.
Then I lay my stomach on the mat and perform several cobra stretches to relax my abdominal wall. This one feels SO good because the mat helps you get a deeper stretch.
I also turn over on my back and perform several stretches with my legs. Laying on your back really helps your work on your breathing and helps any lower back pain I might have from standing all day.
And finally, CORPSE POSE. My literal favorite pose of all time. You just lay there, that’s it. HA. So easy. Plus it’s a nice way to finish out a mini yoga sesh, I like to close my eyes and kind of meditate on the day before going to sleep.
I know it’s not like a legit full out yoga routine but I’ll get there one day, I promise! #yoganewbie
The Pranamat ECO does take some getting used to, though. The lotus spikes can be tough on sensitive skin, but once your body has adjusted, it’s SO worth it. It took me about a week of using it everyday before my body adjusted.
Since I’ve started using the mat, it’s helped relieve my anxiety, it keeps me focused, and definitely alleviates some of my muscle soreness after a rough workout. I’m also noticing that it’s slowly improving my flexibility the more I stretch with it. And best of all, the Pranamat ECO helps me get the best sleep & I wake up feeling so refreshed and ready for my morning routine.
What are ways you like relaxing? Favorite forms of yoga? Any tips for a new yogi?!
