Hi from Houston! I’m currently sitting in the Hilton Downtown Houston lobby waiting for one of my H-Town BFFs to pick me up so we can chow down on Tex-Mex. There’s just something so amazing about Tex-Mex. Like, queso is truly a gift from God and I could literally drink it with a straw.
I love queso so much.
It will totally be worth it after my 40 minute run and upper body weight lifting session I had this morning. So I think I deserve a little indulgence.
Anyways, enough of my life updates for now. Let’s talk weekend workouts!
And guys, I LOVE this topic!
I’m quite the “Weekend Warrior” I guess you could say. Working out on the weekends is one of my favorite things to do. You have no schedule to stick to, you have more time to exercise, more options for fun and new workouts, and sometimes friends can even join in!
I totally realize, though, that not everyone is a fan of the weekend workout. But I admire the fact that you want to be!
+ Fit it in before your weekend plans. I know, I know. Waking up early on the weekends is never ideal, I’m all about sleeping in on Saturdays. TRUST ME, I feel your pain. But I’ve realized that most of my weekend plans are scheduled later than normal weekday plans. So yeah, you don’t get to sleep in as late as you wanted. BUT you’re still sleeping in! Plus, morning workouts make you energized for the day. I always love taking a spin class at 9:30 AM and then meeting my boyfriend for brunch. It’s a perfect way to start a Saturday!
+ Take it outside. I feel like I’m SO redundant at this point, but I effing LOVE outdoor workouts. I would do all my workouts outside if possible. But they make for even better weekend workouts! There are so many possibilities here: beach runs (killerrrr for the legs & booty), park bench workouts, hiking (a personal fav right now), or even just walking your dog.
+ Make a friend date. For awhile, every Saturday morning, my friend Lyndy and I would meet for a SoulCycle class followed by açai bowls! It was super motivating to have a friend keeping me accountable every weekend. Plus, it was our time to catch up and spend time together. It’s also fun to have friends try new workout studios with you. Whether it’s a type of exercise you’ve never tried before or just in a different part of town. I always feel more comfortable having a friend with me. And if you suck at it, you can laugh about it together. HA.
+ Take the stairs. EVERYWHERE. For those of you babes that are literally so busy you can’t fit a workout into your weekends schedule, or maybe you just don’t want to actively exercise…this one is for YOU. Taking the stairs is like the “no workout, workout” if that makes sense. No matter where you are or what you’re doing, take the freaking stairs. Not only will it get your heart rate going, but it will lift the booty like no other. This is definitely a personal fav of mine, even during the weekdays! I try to take the stairs up to my apartment as much as possible!
+ Dance it out. I have a HUGE dancing background. And to this day, I think dancing is definitely my favorite form of exercise, even though I don’t really do it often anymore. Take a dance class or go out to a club and dance you ass off. I literally don’t care. But you will break a sweat either way WHILE you’re having a blast. I really like hip hip classes because they are so energetic!
There are SO many possibilities for weekend workouts. These are just a few ways to get you moving on your days off!
What’re your favorite ways to exercise on the weekends? Share, share share! I love a good weekend sweat.
Talk soon, babes!
