I am literally so sick. & I’m traveling today to visit my family so it’s clearly the perfect combination.
I’m such a high maintenance drama queen when I’m sick. Like I’m not kidding I feel like I’m dying and don’t want to move. My boyfriend, Sean, is left cooking, cleaning, bringing me warm water with lemon & ice cream (because well, I’m not perfect) and basically doing everything I ask. Because, again, I FEEL LIKE I’M DYING.
Major BF points for him.
Buuuut that was yesterday when I didn’t have to spend several hours in an airport. So today I made sure to take all my supplements & I added some vitamin C for immunity. I’m drinking TONS of water and I’m trying to rest as much as possible, even if I’m on a plane.
As y’all already know, I’m a huge fan of drinking my vitamins & minerals. The LA juice scene is so popular that I figured I’d jump on the bandwagon and start juicing myself.
- 9-10 large carrots
- 7 small gala apples
- 1 whole pineapple, peeled
- 1 inch fresh ginger, peeled
- Juice of 1 lime
- Press all ingredients through a juicer.
- Store in the fridge for up to 1 week!
Each of the ingredients in this juice recipe is full of health benefits!
Carrots have SO many benefits. They are a great source of antioxidant vitamins which boost your immune system and even help with premature aging (less wrinkles!!). Carrots are high in vitamins B & K as well. AND they promote healthy nails and hair.
Apples have a lot of super antioxidants—Polyphenol and flavonoids— and potassium, which promote heart health. The alkalinity of apples helps cleanse the liver of unwanted wastes and toxins. They are high in vitamin C which improves your immune system and helps the body fight off germs and bacteria, which is MUCH NEEDED for me right now. Apples also improve eye health and promote a healthy digestive system.
Pineapples are one of my ultimate favorite fruits. I love to eat them with a little cayenne pepper for a kick (if you haven’t tried it, you definitely need to!). They offer anti-inflammatory properties, which makes pineapples a natural remedy for any sort of exercise related injuries. The bromelain in pineapples can act as a cancer-fighting agent as well.
Ginger relieves digestive problems like nausea and loss of appetite. I like putting ginger in EVERYTHING because it adds a little spice to my juice or smoothies. Trust me, it will definitely wake you up in the morning.
Try it out and let me know what you think! I love hearing feedback from y’all. What other healthy recipes would you like to see? I always need more ideas!
