I don’t know about y’all, but I had an amazing summer! It was full of lots of summer snacks, being outdoors, getting tan (well, attempting too anyways), and kind of just exploring parts of LA that I’ve never really ventured into before.
I found A LOT of healthy lunch spots and fun group fitness classes that I’ll definitely need to share with y’all later. I was thinking about doing a wellness tour type post about all the great healthy spots I’ve found around LA. Thoughts?
Okay so even though I’m BEYOND EXCITED for the super yummy fall recipes I have for y’all, amongst other fall related posts, I’m bummed that the days of beach workouts and hanging out in a bikini are coming to an end. Being out in the sun and being active totally keeps me motivated to eat healthier and get that workout in even when I don’t want to. So summer is obviously perfect for me.
Just because the season has changed doesn’t mean we can’t keep with the healthy habits we’ve practiced all summer. I’m a HUGE fan of staying in shape all year long.
Think about it…
You’ve worked so hard all summer so that you can feel confident in a bikini and then we just throw it away once it gets a little chilly?
Hmmmmmm yeah. I don’t think so.
But I can totally get why it’s so easy for people to do this. Especially with the holidays coming up (HELLO PUMKIN PIE) keeping the summer vibe going is definitely a challenge.
SoI put together a few tips for y’all so we can all survive this season together and still come out of it with a bangin’ bikini bod.
+ Set a goal! Having a goal to reach for really helps me to keep pushing, even when I don’t want to. So I always like setting a goal when the fall & winter season creeps up. Last year, my goal was to complete a triathlon, and I did it! So this year, I’m making it a goal to go on a hike every weekend and workout 5 times a week. It’s totally realistic and doable, plus I get to be a little adventurous and explore different hiking trails!
This weekend, I’m going to hike the Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook. If you’re in LA, you need to check this hiking spot out! The view is absolutely AMAZING, you can see all of Los Angeles.
+ Prepare your meals ahead of time. This is a total lifesaver during the fall & winter because I feel like I’m bombarded with all kinds of unhealthy food. So on Sunday’s, I’ll plan out all my meals for the week, head to Trader Joe’s, and then cook it all. I put all my food into Tupperware containers so I can just grab it out of my fridge and go, without even thinking!
I like to mix it up each week, too! So last week I made my quinoa fritters with chicken for lunch and then I made ground turkey tacos for dinner. And as for breakfast, I’m on a totally green smoothie kick right now. So I don’t really need to prepare that ahead of time because it literally takes 5 minutes to make!
+ Shave your legs! Okay this sounds obvious, right? But if we’re being honest, how many women just STOP shaving their legs during the fall & winter? Uhhhhh…ME. I mean, if you’re in jeans or leggings or tights, there isn’t really a good reason to shave your legs.
But something I’ve realized is then you feel good about your body, you want to do good things to it–aka working out, eating right, good hygiene…the works. So I decide to start shaving my legs during the cooler months of the year, just like I did all summer long! It’s SO motivating.
+ Stretch your muscles. With the weather getting colder, our body naturally becomes tighter, and NOT in a good way. Our muscles start to tense up and it makes it harder to workout, plus it just feels uncomfortable. So I make it a priority to stretch everyday. I have a little stretching routine that I do and it takes about 15 minutes, so it’s not very time consuming. And stretching in the morning always makes me feel energized for the rest of the day!
+ It’s okay to indulge sometimes. By all means, EAT THE PUMKIN PIE, but don’t eat it every day. And make sure you’re eating appropriate portions. P.S. I have TONS of healthy holiday recipes coming your way so you can indulge and stay on track!
Not the hardest tips to follow, right?!
I’m actually really excited for the weather to cool down a little bit! Plus I can’t wait for all the cute fall activewear that will be coming out. And don’t worry, I’ll be sure to share my faves with y’all!
Any tips you think I missed??
