The weekend is almost here, and I’m so pumped because the weather is beautiful here in LA right now. I’ll definitely be taking full advantage of it by taking my workouts to the beach! I haven’t worked out on the beach since last summer but now that the weather is nice & I’m in desperate need of a tan, I’d say it’s time to take it to the sand.
So right now, I’m doing ab0ut 4-5 days of cardio with some strength training mixed in about 3 days a week. It was definitely a challenge at first for my body to adjust to THAT much cardio, but now it feels almost second nature to me. I make sure to mix it up though, so I don’t get bored!
SoulCycle, swimming, Stairmaster, run, REPEAT.
With more cardio & exercise, comes more sweat, but I don’t want my skin to take a major hit because of it. Lots of sweat can cause dry skin, breakouts, discoloration of the skin, and several more unwelcome issues. So my post workout skincare routine needs to be on point.
When you’re living out of a gym bag most of the time, like me, you don’t have time for a super intricate and excessive skin care routine. It needs to be short, sweet, & simple.
So I thought I’d share some simple skin care tips to keep your skin healthy, even when you break a sweat!
Here’s a peek inside my post workout skincare routine:
+ I try not to touch my face as much as possible while I’m working out. Putting your hands on your sweaty face can cause breakouts & no one has time for that. So I keep a towel with me to wipe off the sweat.
+ I drink A LOT of water. It’s important to stay hydrated while you’re working out (duh) because your skin loses so much water when you’re working out. So sometimes you can finish a workout with dry, rubbery skin. Not ideal. So I make sure to rehydrate my skin with lots & lots of water!
+ Strip off the sweaty workout clothes ASAP. It’s really important to let your pores breathe after an intense sweat sesh.
+ I never shower right after I workout because hot water can strip your skin of its natural oils so instead I take pre-moistened towelettes and wipe my whole body down. That way I get off all the sweat without drying out my skin.
+ I LOVE dry brushing. I always keep it in my gym bag & brush away after every workout. It’s great to get off any dead skin cells so your skin stays smooth. Dry brushing is also very beneficial for your lymph system. I became fascinated on the subject after reading this post.
By dry brushing your body, you wake up your lymph system which “gets rid of excess fluid, bacteria, viruses, and cell waste. They act as check points along the pathways of the vessels. And when they’re working well, we feel strong, healthy, and energized.”
Getting energized AND smooth skin? Yes please!

Perfect combo!
+ And of course, the last touch is always fragrance! You NEVER want to leave the gym smelling like the gym. *Cringe*
Again, I’m all about low-maintenance skincare. So the fact that this little routine is quick & easy is perfect for me. Literally, it should take 10 minutes tops!
