I’m currently writing this on my super-extended layover in Dallas the storm of the century decided to happen during my long day of traveling (that just turned longer…ugh) back to Los Angeles. But what can I say? I’m braving the dangers of the mass amounts of wind & rain & possible tornadoes to bring you a stellar post. SO much sacrifice for ya’ll.
*overly-dramatic moment over*
Well, like I’ve said SO many times before, I have a never ending love/hate relationship with cardio. It’s real deal. I found several ways to make cardio more interesting for me and a lot of them work just fine! But sometimes, finding some good music to workout to or having a running partner just doesn’t motivate me enough to endure a grueling 30-45 minutes of pure sweat.
I scrolled past an ad for the Skyfit app on my Facebook feed and instantly downloaded it without even thinking. I am constantly on the lookout for new fitness apps and I literally download every one I find. It can get pretty excessive, to be perfectly honest. I’m like a hoarder. I think I have maybe 6 or 7 health & fitness related apps on my phone right now that I haven’t even looked at (but plan to in the near future). Problem? Mmmmm I think not.
ANYWAYS, back to Skyfit. So I downloaded the app and it just sat on my phone for a couple of weeks because of the busyness that is my life becomes pretty time consuming. One morning I was planning on doing some cardio on the elliptical and I tapped on my HH|HH workout playlist only to find that my music would not play. Y’all, I literally teared up at the thought of broken Spotify. So, in a panic I looked up “good music to run to” on Youtube and a promotional video for Skyfit popped up. I was like “Heeeey I already have that!”
It was totally fate.
So I tapped on Skyfit only to realize that I get a 7 day free trial (score) and found the elliptical workout section, picked a random one and went on my way to a 40 minute sweat sesh.
What I loved about the app right off the bat was each cardio class includes a trainer who is talking to you and motivating you the entire time. The first trainer I tried, Rochelle, was totally getting me pumped for cardio and she made me want to push myself more and more! But I’ll get into the motivational aspect in a minute.
Not only does Skyfit offer elliptical classes, but also treadmill, stationary bike, outdoor running, and a 30 day 5k training program. So if you’re all about switching up your cardio routine, Skyfit has you covered with their wide variety of class selections.
I spent the entire week before Christmas with my family and we went to my lake house where there is not a treadmill or elliptical for miles, let alone internet connection or cell service.
So I took advantage of the outdoor running classes. There are various levels of difficulty & length of time so it’s easy to find a workout that fits your level of activity and your schedule.
All of the instructors are highly qualified, with each of them having different specialties as well as unique training styles. It’s fun “getting to know” each of them and their personalities. I know a lot of times women like training with women and men like training with men, so it’s nice that Skyfit gives you the option to choose which trainer you want to work out to, gender and all.
Another cool feature are LIVE classes. You can listen to a trainer take you through a workout at the exact time he or she is teaching it! Pretty cool, in my opinion. It makes for a great online support system because you and a friend or family member can take classes at the same time no matter where you are in the country. I totally talked my parents into taking classes with me and I literally can’t wait.
HA. Family bonding.
My personal favorite thing about Skyfit is how freakin’ affordable it is! For $10 a month, you get access to unlimited on-demand workouts, with new classes being added every week. HOW COOL?!?! So much cheaper than going to a $45 spin class. So it’s pretty much impossible to get bored.
I’m LOLing at how serious I look in some of these pics but it perfectly describes this bad-ass persona that takes over when I’m working out to Skyfit. Think running away from an explosion in slow motion level of bad-ass. It’s pretty empowering, if I’m being honest. HA. Embarrassing.
My girls, Rochelle & Candice, make me feel like the ultimate girl boss (clearly) by keeping me engaged during the workout and reminding me to remember why I’m working out with them in the first place.
We all have a goal when we put on our running shoes or get on a bike, right? When working out gets too overwhelming or we start feeling intimidated, it’s pretty encouraging to be affirmed in all our hard work and dedication thus far. It makes me want to keep going and run away from more explosions. LOL.
Download the app here and find out for yourself why Skyfit changes the cardio game forever!
What’re your favorite must-have fitness app? I’m always looking to hoard a few more. *insert sly emoji face here*
