My name is Kennedy and I’m addicted to weird herbs & spices. I feel like I’m some sort of witch doctor or something. I try to get away with taking as little medications as I can. Seriously, guys, I don’t even take Advil.
I just would much rather not fill my body with chemically developed pills when they can cause all sorts of side effects.
Going all natural is the way to go.
And here I am, with a pantry full of weird herbs, spices, & natural remedies. (Should I do a post?!)
So a couple of months ago, I stopped by my regular juice place, after taking an Uplift class, and decided to try one of the wellness shots. I chose the Candida shot because it had apple cider vinegar in it & I’m totally a creature of habit. HA. I read the ingredients and I knew what all of them were except one called ‘pau d’arco.’
After some research, being the witch doctor I am, I bought like 5 boxes of pau d’arco tea. And guys, I’m HOOKED.
Pau d’arco is actually the name of a tree native to South America. For many years (like THOUSANDS), the tree has been used to make hunting bows amongst the natives because it has very hard bark. In addition to hunting, the South Americans used the tree for its insane amount of healing properties. It’s basically the South American native’s best-kept secret!
Pau d’arco is known to treat a wide range of infections and diseases such as the common cold, flu, certain STDs, and yeast infections. It has been used in cancer treatment in the past as well. Basically it’s just full of wellness & healing. How can you NOT love it?!
Here’s a complete list of all ailments that pau d’arco has been known to treat:
- Yeast infections
- Common cold
- Bladder and prostate infections
- Intestinal worms
- Stomach problems
- Liver problems
- Arthritis-like pain
- Sexually transmitted diseases (gonorrhea, syphilis)
Pau d’arco did WONDERS when I had a flu-ish cold a few weeks ago. I brewed up a cup of tea every morning & before I went to bed. It’s the BOMBEST when you add a little lemon and honey. Go crazy and even put some cayenne in it if you want!
There are several ways to take consume pau d’arco too! It comes in a supplement form which can be ingested to help with infections and diseases. The tea form helps with that also. Pau d’arco also comes in a liquid extract form which has been known to help with yeast infections and help heal wounds faster when applied directly to the skin but there isn’t much research to support this just yet.
The key here is to use the inner bark of the pau d’arco tree. It is the most potent part of the tree and has the strongest concentration of minerals that are responsible for its healing properties.
Like I said, I drank a crap ton of pau d’arco tea when I was sick. But I also put 2-3 drops of pau d’arco extract in my morning apple cider vinegar shot when I’m having any sort of digestion problems. And since I’m so unfortunately clutzy, I’ve put some of the extract on a few cuts which seems to help heal faster.
What do you think?! Are you as intrigued as I was? Let me know what you think!
Snap me (username: kennedy_meek) & let me know what you think! I get SO PUMPED when I get snaps from y’all.
Well anyways, off to a spin class I go!
